4th Grade
Native Americans and the Environment, Camp Puh'Tok - The 4th grade class takes an annual field trip to Camp Puh' Tok in Northern Baltimore County. During this full-day field experience, students participate in hands-on learning stations while studying how Native Americans used natural resources as an essential part of everyday survival and culture. The stations include native weapons, games, friction fire, primitive tools, dwellings and ritual face painting. The students learn to recognize and explain how people depend on, change, and are affected by the environment.
Conservation in the Chesapeake Bay and Its Watershed - The students used online resources to research elements of the Chesapeake Bay to write a research report about Bay conservation. In this lesson, they had to develop a poster or a multimedia presentation to support their research report.
